Okumu, Luvandua on target as KPA sink Zetech

KPA’s Selina Okumu and Hilda Luvandua slotted 12 points each to square Zetech University 66-22 in a Kenya Basketball Federation match played at Nyayo Gymnasium on Saturday (22).

The Dockers dictated all the quarters humiliating the Varsity side 22-4 in the first quarter before Rebecca Nkatha slotted in four 3-pointers in a row, aiding the Mombasa based side rout Zetech 21-11 in the second quarter.

However, 8 points from Zetech’s Vivian Akinyi could not back the Varsity side from tumbling to a 20-4 and 13-4 downfall in the third and fourth quarter running.

Docker’s guard, Rebecca Obunga endorsed the wing players quoting that they played a spirited role in warranting the former champions their first win in the weekend double.

“The shooting guards played quite well, because they scored a lot of three pointers to ensure that we win today’s game, also me and my fellow defensive team we gave quite a good show in ensuring that we don’t concede more,” said Obunga.

On the other hand, Zetech captain Esther Wekesa conceived the loss, bearing in mind that they were clashing one of the strongest side which slated Equity Hawk’s their unbeaten run.

“We played well today but KPA outplayed us, but we are eyeing on winning the next matches to ensure we secure a place among the top eight teams so that we can play in the quarter finals,” Said Wekesa.

KPA will bounce with KU Oryx tomorrow eyeing to curve the weekend double for the second week running.
