Oilers under pressure ahead of Quins test: Weru

Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru says his team is under pressure heading to the weekend’s  clash against Kenya Harlequins, their last match of the Kenya Cup this season.
Match day 16 is the last day for some teams to secure qualifiers for the playoffs position including Mwamba RFC, Menengai Oilers and Nakuru RFC.
Oilers sit sixth on the grid with 36 points in the Kenya Cup standings, three points above Top Fry Nakuru who are seventh.
With six teams qualifying for the playoffs quarter finals, the former Simba flanker believes they will have a tough match against Kenya Harlequins who have not lost in their last two games.
“We are under pressure because it’s something we set to do when the season begun,” Weru said. “This game comes with a lot of pressure for my side.”
“We will be playing against a team that has nothing to lose, at times they end up throwing caution to the wind and I don’t know how my players will adapt. We will just prepare well and I hope we will be able to execute,” explained Weru.
Kenya Harlequins were facing relegation at some point in the season but the Dominique Habimana charges fought their way out of the deep rut.
“Harlequins are not playing to get a playoff slot but playing for fun, they have their own goal and beating us would be one of them,” claimed Weru ahead of the clash that is expected to be engrossing.
On the other hand, Top Fry Nakuru have an easy-looking match against already relegated Western Bulls at the Nakuru Atlhletic Club although the western based side head coach Solomon Obiero says he is optimistic of a win since they want to go down to the championship league with their heads high.
With lots to play for, Nakuru’s Showground will be the place to be this weekend as the two teams chase for the playoffs slot.
If Harlequins hammer Oilers and Nakuru win against Bulls they will earn their ticket but any win for Oilers will give them a playoff tickets. So tight and close is the matrix  and neither can afford a margin for error.
