Ocholla taking it easy as he targets consistency in Kenya Cup

Impala Saracens head coach Mitch Ocholla is aiming at maintaining team consistency in the Kenya Cup after winning their opener match against Nondescripts last weekend.

“We’ll take each game at a time and basically expect to win so that we can have a chance to finish in a playoff position, we don’t want to have many expectations this season but our target is to continue with the winning mentality,” Ocholla told Citizen Digital.

The Ngong road based outfit defeated Nondies 26-14, and according to the former Simba tactician, their focus now shifts to Varsity side Blaq Blad this weekend for their second Kenya Cup match which he is optimistic his charges will be victorious.

“We had a good review against Blaq Blad and we are well prepared for them, so far we have an injury from Kenya national 15s fullback Antony Odhiambo, so the rest are okay to play therefore we expect minimal changes as we build for our match against Blad,” explained Ocholla.

Ocholla will give a rest to Odhiambo and bring in Mark Wemui.

“We’ll give Odhiambo a rest for the next match and probably bring in  full-back Mark Wemui who helped us a lot in the Floodies so that will be our biggest change this weekend,” clarified Ocholla.

Ocholla added that he will not make any tactical change saying he is happy with how his charges played last weekend.

“Basically  we have to harden ourselves after allowing two tries in the second half against Nondies,” added Ocholla.

Saracens finished sixth in the log last season with 45 points, 29 points behind table-toppers Kabras Sugar.
