Nine-man Leopards down Ushuru to reach quarters

Goalkeeper Ezekiel Owade made a heroic stop as AFC Leopards knocked out Ushuru FC 4-2 on post-match shootouts to reach the FKF Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

The match had to be decided by penalties after it ended in barren draw in regulation time and Leopards showed no nerves, with Boniface Mukhekhe, Said Tsuma, Washington Munene and Chris Oruchum all converting their spotkicks.

Evans Makari and Oscar Mbugua dispatched their penalties for Ushuru before Owade saved Edwin Mwaura’s effort and Jackton Onjala slammed his attempt into the crossbar.

Earlier on Ulinzi Stars edged out Migori youth 1-0 at the same ground on Sunday, March 15, 2020.

Bernard Ongoma scored the only goal at the 50th minute with a snap shot 18yards from goal that rebounded from the top bar, hitting the back of the goalkeeper to the net.

Migori youth attempted to even the game but they could not create clear cut chances as the final whistle lead to a win for Ulinzi.

Ulinzi now book a date in the quarter finals on Saturday, April 11.
