Mwita tames Sharks with solo strike to hand Bandari cherished win

On-form Johanna Mwita scored a solo goal to make it four wins on the bounce for interim coach Twahir Muhiddin as Bandari snatch a 1-0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks at Mbaraki Sports Club, Mombasa.

Mwita collected a loose ball in the middle of the park, driblled past two defenders, stood on his feet to beat Harambee Stars keeper Brian Bwire on what was the last kick of the first half to plant the ball home.

Bandari had their first shot on target in the 11th minute through William Wadri after Shaban Kenga teed him up but his shot was not powerful enough to go past Bwire.

The visitors looked  more dangerous and had their second chance of the match through a free-kick; Omotto driving it to the left hand top corner but Ndikumana rose to the occasion once again to save Bandari’s ship from sinking.

However Sharks will blame themselves for squandering numerous clear cut chances that would have earned them at least a point in the coastal city.

“We had a great game but we could not score. That’s our problem but I think we can improve. We could have scored several here but they were also solid,”Sharks’ Eric Kapaito told Citizen Digital.

Sharks controlled much of the proceedings in a sunny Mbaraki and the defeat leaves them on the bottom half of the table while Bandari climb to ninth on the log.
