Muluyia rules out new signings for Sharks

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya says he will not dip into the transfer market to bolster his squad during the mid-season window that begins on Monday.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Monday announced the transfer window will begin on January 25 to end March 1 for the local based player while for the foreign based it will end on February 22 but Muluya insists he is happy with his current squad.

“We’ve started the season well and the new faces we brought in before the season kicked off have jelled very well with the other players and I don’t think we will add other players,” he said, adding: “I’m confident with the squad I have now and we can even dare dream about the 2020-2021 title.”

Third on the log of the FKF Premier League on 15 points, three behind leaders KCB , Sharks will face AFC Leopards on Sunday and the youthful tactician believes his side is ripe for their first ever topflight title.

“We will approach the Leopards fixture just like we have done to the previous matches, with utmost commitment and hard work. However, we should approach the game cautiously optimistic because our opponents are also a very strong team this season.

We are in this league to fight for the title and that is our aim although we know it won’t be easy,” he added.

Meanwhile, Leopards’ red-hot goal poacher Elvis Rupia is hoping to continue with his goal form when he faces his fellow golden boot competitor Eric Kapaito who leads the table with 11 goals,

“I know all eyes will be on me and Kapaito but it’s not about that winning a game is teamwork and I believe with the proper preparation that we are going through am confident we will get a good result,”Rupia told Citizen Digital.
