Mombasa giants fall as attention shifts to Coast Region Games
Coast Region Term 2 Secondary School Games will have a lot of new comers as defending county champions were bundled out at the county games which took place over the weekend in different coastal counties.
In Mombasa, only Mama Ngina’s under 16 soccer team retained their title while their seniors, will also grace the regional after earning the ticket.
Serani Boys who won in both categories will also be aiming to make at the Regional’s penciled for Malindi.
St Charles Lwanga also defended their netball title and will represent Mombasa County in the regional games to be held in Malindi.
According to Serani head coach Swaleh Abdallah, their aim is to rekindle the lost glory and will leave nothing to chance as they represent Mombasa County in the regionals.
“We are back and we are going for the national slot during the regional games in Malindi,” said Abdallah.
He added: “Mombasa has been struggling since the collapse of Tononoka Secondary but Serani is here to revive its lost glory.”
In Kwale County, Coast Region defending champions Ramisi Secondary were beaten by Kaya Tiwi in the semi final as Shimba Hills won the under 19 category.
Shimba will represent Kwale in the under 19 as Kwale High take part in the under 16.
The 2016 national champions St John’s Kaloleni will be aiming to return to the national championship after emerging as the winners in Kilifi county as Ngala Girls won the under 16 tournament.
They will be going head to head with national and East Africa defending champions Kwale Girls from who defended their county title.
The Coast Region Secondary School Term 2 Games will be held in Malindi from June 19-22.
