Former Mbale Rugby Football Club chairman Matayo Mwenesi has been appointed as the regional development officer RDO for the western region after serving as a chairman for more than five years.

Recounting his journey and success as a chairman of Mbale RFC, as well as being in charge of the western Blackrock tournament, Mwensesi said he was confident that he has done enough and left the club in a better state than he found it.

He added his new role is something he has always looked forward to and now it’s a dream come true to serve as a development officer.

Mwenesi says his biggest duty now is to fish out rugby talents for both girls and boys from the primary school level as expected by the world rugby union a program Get Into Rugby.

“As an RDO there is a program from world rugby union called Get into rugby that is made to introduce primary school kids to this amazing game, we shall have to walk around our schools introducing the game as well as fish out talent,” said Mwenesi.
