Matano backs Leopards to roar against FOSA Juniors

Head coach Robert Matano says he has fastened all the bolts on his AFC Leopards side and all that is left is to charge on FOSA Juniors in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round fixture.

Leopards have had low-key start to their 2018 campaign but Matano believes there is little to worry as his players impressed in training ahead of their clash with the Madagascan outfit at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Ingwe bagged a point from their 1-1 draw with Posta Rangers in their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) opener but that result should have been worse had the hosts not missed a second half penalty.

Matano’s men have already surrendered one title for the season, losing 1-0 to archrivals Gor Mahia FC in the Super Cup and will been desperate to make a positive impression on the continental stage.

“I can only see a win on Sunday now that my boys are at their best. Nothing is going to stop them from performing now that we have fine-tuned all the departments for the coming fixture,” Matano told Mulembe FM.

The former Ulinzi Stars tactician admitted a recent go-slow staged by the playing unit over pay weakened their pre-season momentum but believes ‘all is sorted out’.

Matano implored on Ingwe faithful to turn up in large numbers to show support for the local giants and promised they will not disappoint.

Leopards will seek to capitalize on home advantage before travelling to Madagascar for the return leg 10 days later.
