Leopards defender Shivachi wants to study electrical engineering

AFC Leopards defender Collins Shivachi is keen to take up a course in electrical engineering as a back up for his sporting talent.

Shivachi says that sports shutdown in the country due to Covid-19 has helped him to come up with the decision to plan for life after football.

“Even if we resume the league I will still pursue this course to strategically be prepared for future life,” Shivachi said.

Since the ban of sports by the government, Shivachi has resorted to individual training as well as engaging in grassroot sporting with Kasarani Youths while observing Covid-19 protocols.

“In the grassroots we are having small groups training but in strict consideration of Ministry of Health protocols. We do it in Kasarani and I feel it’s helpful,” Shivachi added.

Like a few clubs in the country, Leopards players are engaged in daily home-based training following head coach Patrick Aussems’ manual to keep fit.

“For now I can tell you for free it is your personal discipline and so one is called to have individual training at home with the help of our technical bench’s manual that they send to us.

When you wake up in the morning, like for me, I do light road race and also do gym daily”, concluded Shivachi.

Football Kenya Federation is hopeful that the Ministry of Sports will agree with their counterparts in the Health docket to allow resumption of sports probably by June.
