Laiser Hill crowned Kajiado County football champs

Laiser Hill Academy are the Kajiado County 2019 boys football champions after outclassing Olkejuado High School 3-0 as the curtains came down on the Term Two school games on Saturday.

Courtesy of their conquest, Laiser have earned a ticket to the regional showpiece to be held in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.

An opener from Timothy Ouma in 40th minute raised the hopes of Laiser who narrowly escaped the semifinals after the controversial walkover they were awarded following the protest from Kimana’s Christ the King High School who failed to turn up for a rematch even after a tribunal ruled otherwise.

On the pitch, the energetic Laiser saved the best for the second half with Chris Owino finding the target in the 46th minute while Michael Mutham twisted the knife on the back of Olkejuado with a 52nd  minute strike to confirm the commanding victory.

To reach the final, Kajiado town based Olkejuado outclassed Najile Boys 6-5 in penalties shootouts after a 2-2 tie in regulation time.

The match was played away from Kimana Catholic ground to avoid confrontation with supporters of Christ the King.

But for Olkejuado, things went from bad to worse in the 65th minute. Trailing 0-3, their three players picked injuries and had to be stretched out for treatment leaving them eight men on the pitch.

With ‘no reserve players’ they requested the match to end and the referee upon consultation was left with no choice but to oblige.

Laiser Hill coach Anthony Kirimi hailed his boys for the great achievement.

“We are happy our boys have done us proud again. We enjoyed the game despite the few hiccups. We call upon the managers to teach the fans and other teams on how to adhere to the football rules  so that we give room to our young boys to show their talents.

He went on: “We hope to extend our winning ways to the regionals. Our boys are good and we are going to prepare well.”

On the other hand, Entarara Boys secured their regional place after beating Nakel Boys High School 2-1 to bag the U16 boys title while in the girls U19 category, Chief Riser Girls will represent Kajiado County after beating Moi Girls Isinya 2-0 in a thrilling finale played at Kimana Primary. At the same venue, Natembea Secondary School were crowned U16 champions after a 3-1 win over Baraka Secondary School.

In volleyball, Entarara Boys made it to regionals after thrashing Oloosios 3-1 .They are joined by Christ the King who beat Baraka School 3-0 in girls’ category.
