Kenyan swimmers earn Olympic qualification

Kenyan swimmers Danilo Rosafio and Emily Muteti will represent Kenya at this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The duo earned the qualification for the Games through a selection process based on the top-ranking points from FINA qualifying events.

Rosafio sealed his berth at the Games owing to his performance at the FINA World Junior Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where he achieved the top 730 points in 100m freestyle.

On the other hand, Muteti earned qualification based on her performance at the 2019 African Games in Cassablanca, Morocco, where she achieved the top 698 FINA points in 50m freestyle.

Rosafio is currently training at the Loughborough University in United Kingdom as Muteti steps her preparations at Grand Canyon University in USA.

The pair will be accompanied by Abdulmalik Abubakar and Fakhry Mansoor as the team manager and coach respectively for global event set to kick off on July 23-August 8 in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

The new development now takes the number of Kenyan athletes who have qualified for the Games to 90.
