Kahata ‘joins’ Tanzania’s Simba SC

Gor Mahia and Kenyan international midfielder Francis Kahata who has been on Tanzania’s Simba SC radar has reportedly landed a deal with the Tanzanian giants.

Reports indicate that Kahata has landed a three-year deal with a sign on fee of Ksh. 4 million. The deal is said to have been reached in Cairo with Simba representatives and this will see Kahata pocket Ksh. 350,000 in monthly remuneration.

According to Tanzania’s local Sports daily Mwanaspoti, the official communication will be made in Dar es Salaam once Kenya is done with the AFCON in Egypt and Kahata is expected in Dar thereafter.

He becomes the second Gor Mahia player to decamp to Simba after their former Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere who ended last season in Tanzania as the golden boot winner.

However, Gor Mahia deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala says they are not aware since Kahata’s contract with the club ended on June 28 and that he is a free agent.

‘’His contract with us expired last week and he is now a free agent. It could be true he has signed with them because they have trailed him for long’’, asserted Ngala.

The departure of Kahata, who has been a cog in Gor Mahia’s midfield, adds a gap to the K’Ogalo squad just after their lead striker Jacques Tuyisenge decamped to Angola’s Petro De Luanda at the end of last season.

Kahata started at the AFCON against Algeria but was dropped in the second half for underperforming. He also started against Tanzania in their hard-fought 3-2 thumping of their neighbors.

This is even as Gor Mahia has not submitted their final list to CECAFA for the players who will feature in the regional tournament beginning this coming weekend.

Club deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala says they are in the process of looking for a striker and the full squad to Kigali will be made public soon.

A lot awaits Gor with the season’s congested fixtures beginning with the CECAFA Kagame cup in Kigali, which will be followed by numerous fixtures from CAF Champions League, Super 8, Gotv Shield alongside the KPL new season assignments.
