Injured Leopards Sichenje to wait more before resuming training

AFC Leopards will miss injured utility player Collins Sichenje when they face hosts Bandari FC on Thursday next week, in a Kenyan Premier League clash at the Mbaraki Sports Club.

Club doctor Patrick Ngusale has said that the midfielder sustained ankle and shin injuries when featuring against Gor Mahia last Sunday, and cannot be ready to play by the time Leopards travel to Mombasa.

X-ray tests detected no fracture as it was feared initially, with the report only indicating soft tissue injuries.

“We are working on him now, by today he had a little pain and so the pain must go down completely then he start training. So, that will be definitely after next week,” Ngusale stated.

Leopards are coming from a 4-1 Mashemeji Derby defeat and are under pressure to collect maximum points when they face the Dockers.

On the other hand, Bandari under the tutelage of Bernard Mwalala are desperate to end their losing run following defeats to Western Stima and Ulinzi Stars consecutively.

The Mwalala led boys were recently bundled out of the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary stage after a 0-1(2-5) loss to Guinea Conakry side Horoya FC.

Leopards are currently seventh on the log with 15 points while Bandari are 11th on eleven points.
