Ingwe signs Ghanaian striker Gilbert Fiamenyo

AFC Leopards has signed Ghanaian striker, Gilbert Fiamenyo, on a 17-month contract. The new signing, who will don jersey No 17, is expected to bolster the club’s striking power.

Fiamenyo jets into the country Friday, August 12, at 5am after the club finalized his paper work.

The dribbler will be received at the JKIA and taken straight to Mumias, where he will watch Leopards play Homeboyz on Sunday in the Kenya Premier League fixture before joining his new home.

Fiamenyo is part of Coach Ivan Minnaert’s project to improve the football standards in the club.

Leopards Secretary General, Oscar Igaida, confirmed that Fiamenyo has already penned the deal and there is no doubt he will help steer the club ahead.

“He is jetting in to the country very early in the morning Friday from Accra after signing the contract with Ingwe and this happened long time ago,” noted Igaida.

“We have watched his video and so convinced with Minnaert’s advice that this will be a utility player.”

The Ghanaian is expected to take over slot No 9 on the pitch since he is a good finisher.

The former Hearts of Oak striker, will now make the No 9 position competitive since other players including top scorer Kepha Aswani, Paul Mungai Kiongera, youngstar Jack Bruno Kiyai and Alfred Wekesa also play in the same position.

Leopards’ team manager, Joseph Milimo, has held that the new signing is good according to videos but will only rate him when he starts playing for Ingwe.
