Im still in the race for the FKF presidency: Twaha

Former Kenya Football Federation vice president Twaha Mbarak says he’s still in the race to unseat Nick Mwendwa in the forthcoming election.

Twaha stated that his recent meeting with three other aspirants last week was to ensure they have a level field ahead of the eagerly awaited poll.

“We are all still aspirants but we will discuss that later after we got a level ground for the elections,” said Twaha.

The Federation’s elections, which have been nullified twice by Sports Dispute Tribunal, will likely be held after the country contains the coronavirus pandemic with FIFA expected to spearhead the process.

Twaha, who also serves as Bandari FC board of trustee member, has at the same time questioned the legality of the new league sponsorship announced by FKF last week terming it as just a campaign tool for Mwendwa who is ‘out of office’ hence not allowed to negotiate any deal on behalf of the federation.

“Nick is just hunting for votes in the so-called sponsorship which is illegal as there is no sitting office which is supposed to discuss anything on behalf of the federation,” he added.

At the same time he stated that he is having a huge sponsor on hold who is ready to invest in the local leagues once elected.

Twaha will be up against Nick Mwendwa, Nicholas Musonye, Herbert Mwachiro, Sammy Shollei and Ludovick Aduda among other aspirants.
