Handball, golf added to KICOSCA calendar

County Assemblies Sports Association (Casa) and Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) organizers have introduced golf in their calendar.

Handball is the other sporting discipline that will be contested during the August Games along with other competitions including football, volleyball, basketball, netball and athletics.

Suring last year’s edition, scrabble and chess were some of the events that were added in the KICOSCA calendar.

With 34 counties confirming their participation, the seventh edition of kicosca will have maiden appearance of four counties led by Makueni, Turkana, Homa Bay and Migori.

Kericho County Governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony will be this year’s events patron after  receiving KICOSCA ceremonial chain and peace torch from his Kisii County counterpart James Ongwae.

Other games that are on calendar include: tug of war, ajua, pool, darts, badminton, table tennis, cultural dance and choir.

This is one of the county governments initiatives aimed at promoting sporting activities among county employees and Kenyan youths. The games have attracted the participation of member of the senate, ministry of culture and sports among others.

The competition will be held ahead of East African Games scheduled for Kampala, Uganda in December.
