Gor eyeing seven more signings ahead of new season

Gor Mahia FC chairman Ambrose Rachier has said the club is looking to recruit an additional seven players before unveiling a new look team ahead of the new Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season.

Rachier said they already lost 14 players and recruited seven so far, noting they intend to balance the squad out by giving preference to the areas most affected by the exodus.

“We have lost 14 of our own and what we are doing now is filling the gaps left vacant. But also we shall review our squad and ensure we get the right players with the right experience from both locally and abroad,” Rachier told Citizen Digital.

He hinted at dropping some players in the squad but said that decision will be guided by coach Steven Pollack who will advise on which players he intends to work with.

Rachier added they wish to hasten their recruitment process for continental registration purposes since the the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already released its calendar for the season.

“We shall not wait for the window period deadline of November 3 since CAF has released its calendar. We need to recruit faster and hit the ground running.’’

Meanwhile Rachier has admitted receiving part of the money from their new betting firm shirt sponsor saying that is the money they are using for recruitment.

‘’When the window period was opened, we approached our sponsors with a klind request to release part of the money in the deal to us since we needed to recruit, and I am happy to say they listened to us and gave us part of the money.’’

Askled about captain Kenneth Muguna who was also rumoured to be on the way out of the club, Rachier said as at now, Muguna is still their player and captain , saying however that when he will want to leave, the club will enter a mutual understanding with him since he still has more than e year of contract with KÓgalo.

He noted that Gor cannot deny any player an opportunity to find a new challenge saying any player who would wish to leave the club will be assisted.
