Gor captain Shakava admits Wazito contact

Gor Mahia FC captain Harun Shakava says he has been approached by Wazito FC and a number of Zambian teams over a possible move away from the Kenyan Premier League champions.

Shakava, who has captained Gor over the past three seasons during which they have won all three domestic titles, admitted he is open for a switch but emphasized he will honour his contract which has six months left on it.

‘’I am still under contract with Gor Mahia so I will only leave if they (Wazito) agree terms with my employer.

“A number of teams in Zambia have also contacted me but they will have to negotiate before I am probably released,” Shakava said.

The departure of Shakava from Gor Mahia will mean they will have to pick a new captain and his assistant since the former vice Captain Jacques Tuyisenge has already left to join Angolan side Petro De Luanda.

Shakava’s sentiments were echoed by club deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala who said in an earlier interview that the captain is still under contract and should any club be interested in his services, they will have to negotiate and reach an agreement before he is released.

“The transfer window is open but Shakava is still under contract. Incase any team will want to seek his services, we will sit down and deliberate depending on the offer. He is our captain and we can’t deny him a chance to further his career,” Ngala stated.

Midfielder Francis Kahata is also said to be on his way out of Gor and is said to be in negotiation with Tanzanian giants Simba, where he is likely to join his former teammate Meddie Kagere.

The club deputy secretary general told Citizen Digital  that they are waiting for coach Hassan Oktay to jet back next week from holiday in the UK, before they can decide on who to be released and areas to be beefed up.
