Gor broadcast case vs StarTimes adjourned

The case in which Gor Mahia FC sought court orders to bar Star Times Media from airing their matches has been adjourned until December 23. Gor had gone to court to revoke a media rights endorsement signed by embattled Secretary general Sam Ocholla that granted the pay TV company rights to air the Kenyan champions’ league matches. Gor chair Ambrose Rachier says the hearing will continue next week on Wednesday and reiterated the club’s resolve to opt out of the broadcast agreement that was ‘forced’ upon them. Gor and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) are locked in a bitter standoff over broadcast rights after Ocholla purportedly signed a deal allowing StarTimes Media to broadcast its matches, later nullified by Rachier. FKF has insisted they already have KÓgalo’s endorsement while dismissing Rachier’s withdrawal of the Secretary General’s signature. Gor are also listed as interested in another case brought before the Sports Disputes Tribunal by Zoo FC who were expelled from the top-flight league along with Mathare United by Football Kenya Federation for failing to endorse the deal. The Kenyan champions travel to Algeria on Sunday for their CAF Champions League second round clash against CR Belouizdad.
