Gor boss Rachier laughs off Tuyisenge transfer talk

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has scoffed at reports linking the club’s lead striker Jacques Tuyisenge to a potential move to Congolese side AS Vita.

According to reports in the Congolese press, AS Vita is plotting an audacious move for the Rwandan striker who has been in fine form for K’Ogalo.

According to the reports, AS Vita are expecting Moroccan club AS Berkane to launch a bid for their striker Jean Marc-Makusu who is valued at Sh50 million.

Should he bought, Vita hopes to use some of the cash to launch a bid for Tuyisenge, who on Sunday scored the lone goal from the penalty spot as Gor Mahia edged out Angolan giants Petro Atletico 1-0 to earn a ticket to the Caf Confederation Cup quarter finals berth for the first time in their history.

However, in an interview with Citizen Digital, Gor club boss Rachier poured water on the transfer speculation.

“Tuyisenge is a principled and disciplined player who cannot negotiate transfer issues behind my back. Not even the Congolese have contacted me. Those (transfer claims) are makings of the social media,” explained Rachier.

The Rwandese striker is a darling to many a fan of the Kenyan giants, thanks to his good form that has seen him rise to the occasion in big games.

Should he leave Gor it will deal a hammer blow to the Kenyan giants who are making a foot-print in continental football.

The 29-year-old goal poacher joined Gor in 2016 from Police FC of Rwanda and has been a key plank in the team.

“It will depend of the terms any club interested in his signature will put on the table. We love Tuyisenge and cannot release him to any other club that cannot further his career. But this will happen when time comes,” Rachier said of the club’s vice-captain who has so far scored three league goals from the KPL champions.

Of late Gor has lost dependable foreign players among them Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere, midfielder Khalid Aucho (Ugandan), utility left-back Godfrey Walusimbi and his compatriot ‘Baba’ Kizito.

And in a separate interview with Citizen Digital last Sunday after their qualification for the CAF quarters, Gor head coach Hassan Oktay admitted that signing a striker will be a priority in the mini-transfer window.

“I already have a sharp striker in mind but I will unveil him at the right time. But generally my weakness is on goal hunting,’’he said.
