For good Felly, Bandari has healthy chance of making history in CAF Cup

Veteran captain Felly Mulumba is confident Bandari FC will reach the Caf Confederations group stage at the expense of Horoya AC and write their own piece of history.

The FKF Shield Cup holders were beaten 4-2 in their first clash in Conakry, Guinea, Aristide Bance grabbing a hat-trick for the hosts to give them an advantage ahead of the return leg.

Horoya were the hot favourites heading to the tie, with their vast experience on continental football tipping them to overcome a Bandari scare.

However the Dockers produced an energetic display in Guinea despite the loss and Mulumba believes they what it takes to turn the game around.

“We are confident. We’re 68 percent through to the next round but it won’t be a ride on the park. After the defeat we sat down and talked on how we can improve. We are not in bad shape and we want to make the fans happy. We want to make sure the Kenyan flag rises high on Sunday,” Mulumba told the club’s official website.

However, the size of the task has been laid bare with few teams in the competition’s history progressing to the money-minting group stages after losing by at least two goals.

At the same time, the DR Congo international has urged football fans across the country to get behind them for support to help knock out Horoya at Kasarani on Sunday.

“We need the support of all Kenyans and let’s do our part. We are determined to make them feel proud in Nairobi.” He added.

Quick Facts

-Horoya has played seven away games in the CAFCC since April 2014. They have managed only one win and losing the other six. They have however scored in five games on the road, failing only to score in two. Away, they’ve scored nine goals and conceded twelve- this shows that they have a high percentage of conceding on away assignments.

-Bandari, on the other hand, have played three games in the CAFCC since their debut in 2016, February. At home, the Mombasa based side has been undoubtedly solid. They have managed 1 win and 2 draws. Of the three games, they have scored 3 goals and concede only one- This also proves the Mwalala coached side find is difficult to score against at home.
