FKF Polls: NEC aspirants submit nomination papers

With the FKF national elections set for December 7, 2019 aspirants are leaving nothing to chance as they race to beat the deadline of submitting their credentials

On Tuesday the FKF Electoral Board secretariat received nomination papers from aspirants seeking election to the National Executive Committee.

This comes after the board conducted a nomination exercise, last week, for aspirants seeking elective positions at the county level.

Coast region aspirant Gabriel Mghendi was among those who presented their papers, upbeat that he will triumph in the forthcoming elections

“I would like my people from the Coast region to see me as a reliable leader who are fit for the job as their representative,” said Mghendi.

Nyanza region aspirant Joseph Andere said:  “The process today has been seamless and I believe the Electoral Board will conduct a free and fair election.”

In the meantime, Western region aspirant, Bishop Tony Kweya, lauded the seamless nomination process that saw him take very little time at the verification stations.

Aspirants from North Eastern, Upper Rift, Lower Rift and Eastern regions as well as Woman Representative aspirants also presented their papers on Tuesday.

The Board will have a three-day window, between October 24 and October 26, in which disputes submitted to it will be heard.

Aspirants who do not get recourse from the Board can further lodge their appeals to the Appeals Committee between October 28, and October 30, 2019. The final list of candidates at both the County and National level will be published on November 2, 2019.

Voter verification, meanwhile, will be done between November 4, and November 9, 2019.

A preliminary list of eligible voters will be published on November 11, 2019, after which disputes surrounding the voter register will be heard, by the Board, between November 13, and November 15, 2019, and thereafter by the Appeals Committee, if need be, between November 18, and November 20, 2019.

The final list of eligible voters will be published on November 21, 2019.

County elections have been scheduled for November 23, while the National polls have been lined up on December 7, 2019.
