FKF fire coach Ouma, pick Okere to lead Harambee Starlets

Football Kenya Federation has parted ways with Harambee Starlets head coach David Ouma and his place taken up by Charles Okere . Okere, who serves as an assistant coach at FKF Premier League leaders Tusker, replaces David Ouma who has parted ways with the federation on mutual consent, the federation announced this afternoon in a press statement. Okere will be assisted by Godfrey Oduor who serves as the KCB assistant coach and Mildred Cheche who is also part of the KCB technical bench. His first competitive assignment will be the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers. The continental showpiece, which will be held in Morocco, will double up as the qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup that will be hosted jointly by Australia and New Zealand. Starlets are presently preparing for a friendly against Shepolopolo of Zambia. Ouma is best remembered for guiding Starlets to their first Africa Women Cup of Nations in 2016 and winning the CECAFA Women Championship in 2019 by stunning the host Tanzania 2-0 in the final played in Dar es Salaam.
