EMYBA hit Terror, Lakeside in KBF league

Last season’s Kenya men’s basketball league semi-finalists EMYBA had an impressive performance over the weekend after winning both their matches.

They hammered newcomers Terror 62-44 on Saturday before defeating Lakeside 80-55 on Sunday at the Nyayo Gymnasium.

Against Lakeside on Sunday, EMYBA under head coach Abel Nson started off well by winning 21-16 before settling for a draw of 15-15 in the second quarter going to half time leading 36-31.

After the break EMYBA started from where they stopped winning third quarter 19 before winding up with a 25-08 win in the last quarter.

Head coach Abel Nson attributed the results to the training they have been having.

“We have been practicing well. Since the transition as a coach we have addressed some of our past issues of discipline on the court. So now we try to have a more systematic approach to the games and sharing the ball equitably,” he said.

Nson added that moving Eugene Adera to the position of point guard had really added value to the team and also the services of the newcomer Mayen Radijah which his height is of great impact.

Nson added that the absence of Radijah and veteran Felix Luke cost them in their first game of the season which they lost to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

The veteran coach has also talked about how they played last season and their plan this season.

“Last year we did well with our defense and our pace and have kept those elements of the game. Our objectives for the season remain the same. The important thing is we know nobody wins the league in the first games but we build slowly and the team has been very responsive to our new style,” he added.

Elsewhere, defending champions Ulinzi Warriors continued with their quest of defending the trophy by winning their second match of the 2021 Kenya Basketball League (KBF). The warriors defeated Umoja 67-49 in a match played at Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi.

Meanwhile, Storms ladies team got a walkover against Kisumu Lady Bucks who failed to show up hence giving them free points.
