The venue for this year’s Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association, FEASSSA, has been changed from Mpesa Academy to Kakamega High School.

Western Region Secondary Schools Sports Association secretary Quinto Omusugu made the announcement this morning as he released Western Region’s 2020 calendar of events.

The 10-day regional event will kick off on August 14.

“We confirm to have received a letter from education ministry stating that Western region and in particular Kakamega County will host the games.

“Plans are now underway and so we are going to assess the schools that will be used now that the games entails a lot of schools and students.

“However we are definitely going to have Kakamega High as our main venue and also other institutions around Kakamega will be considered”, Quinto said.

The last year’s East Africa Secondary School games included the special needs games and also the primary section in Arusha and that will also be featured this year which is a new dawn for these games according to Quinto who also is the vice secretary of Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA).

In addition, St Peters High Mumias (football), Butere Girls (Basket Ball), Kibabii Boys (football), Bungoma High (Rugby 15s) and Chavakali High (handball) will not feature in this year’s school games.

“The status quo for last year remains unchanged that St Peter Kibabii, Butere Girls, Bungoma High school and Chavakali are disqualified.
