Dagoretti power into KSSSA football final

Nairobi region champions Dagoretti High School have qualified for the finals of the 2019 KSSSA Term Two games after winning the semi-final 3-1 to edge out Central region champions Olbolosat who finished second last year.

Following their impressive semifinals scalp, Dagoretti will be one of Kenya’s representatives in the East Africa Games slated for Arusha later this month regardless of the outcome in the finals.

With the errors from last year at the back of their minds, Dagoretti made their intent to right known early in the game when a quick interplay between their wide players set Paul Odhiambo through who the lobbed the ball beyond Olbolsat goalkeeper Robert Arnold to give them the lead.

Olbolsat pulled back an equalizer two minutes later when Adan Rashid made the most of the confusion in the Dagoretti box to hit the ball home from a cut back from the left-wing.

‘Olbolsat’s Series of attacks were thwarted by ‘Dagoretti’s powerful center-back pairing of Marvin Ochieng and Simon Omondi to force a 2-1 halftime scoreline.

In the second half, Dagoretti maintained their high intensity on the ball capped by a beautifully converted free-kick by Simon Omondi in the 68th minute.

A late Olbolsat salvo on the Dagoretti goal was all but in vain as the latter held on to prevail.

Speaking to Citizen Digital after the game Dagoretti coach James Makoha asserted that his boys are ripe to win this ‘year’s edition.

“Am so happy for the victory, and we are confident of winning the final.

“Am ready for anyone who will join us in the finals.” He said.

He added that the ‘team’s ambition is to win the East Africa games.

They will learn about their opponents in the finals when Ebwali takes on St Anthony Kitale in the semifinal fixture.
