Coach praises Junior Stars progress after CECAFA U17 exit

The national Under-17 coach Oliver Page says he believes his team is showing positive development and has the ability to win an international title in the next two years.

Page was speaking after Kenya crashed out of the CECAFA U17 championship following a 5-0 thrashing by the defending champion Uganda in their second match of the group played in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Junior Stars had drawn 2-2 in their opening fixture against Ethiopia on Sunday and needed a win against the champions for them to progress in the semifinals.

“Our draw against Ethiopia cost us the ticket to the semi-final. We didn’t create enough chances in that game and lacked lacked defensive discipline. We learnt our lessons and we will have to improve.

“We came here with a very young squad, which we have to prepare again and in the next two years some of them will be playing for premier league clubs and I am sure we will go to the next tournament a much stronger side,” Page told Citizen Digital.
