City Stars brace for tough run of fixtures

FKF Premier League side Nairobi City Stars will fancy their chances when they take on AFC Leopards on Saturday as they begin a run of tough fixtures that will see them also play against champions Gor Mahia and league leaders Tusker FC consecutively.

Club coordinator Samson Otieno is confident his charges will be inspired by their recent good run in which the Kawangware based side has raked three victories in as many games.

Their recent triumphs against Zoo Kericho, Western Stima, and Mathare United put an end to their miserable run in which they had failed to overpower their opponents in seven straight games.

Otieno is confident they have what it takes to hold their own against Leopards.

“We understand Leopards are a very good side and are currently on a good run. However, we know we are capable of winning the encounter.

Head coach Sanjin Alagic says the team will rely on the sniper instincts to edge Leopards.

“In In our recent games we have created few chances but managed to score a good number of goals and I believe that will enhance our chances of beating Ingwe.

Alagic says the level of competition in the top-tier league means they will slightly change their approach in their next three games to come out on top.

“If you look at our games against Zoo, Stima, and Mathare you will notice that every team is strong.

“However, against Gor, Leopards, and Tusker we will have to look at the individual attributes of every opponent and try to negate them.

After blowing hot and cold in their start to the season City Stars seem to have gotten their mojo back after registering three consecutive victories against Zoo Kericho, Western Stima, and their latest victim Mathare United.

A victory against in-form Leopards will elevate them higher on the log ahead of the mid-March international break as they contemplate a strong finish to the first half of the season.
