Butali, Blazers set for KHU crowning moment

Champions Butali Sugar Warriors and Blazers will have their title coronation ceremony this weekend at the City Park as curtains fall on hockey’s top flight league.

While Blazers have already finished the season unbeaten, Butali will be seeking to achieve the same feat when they face fourth-placed Greensharks on Sunday.

The match will be preceded by a high stakes clash pitting former champions Kenya Police who are third on the log with 32 points and second-placed Wazalendo (33) with either of the two teams sealing the second spot with a win.

Having already been relegated to the Super League, Sikh Union and Parklands will take on Western Jaguars and Strathmore University Gladiators respectively on Saturday while Chase Sailors are set to wrap up the season with a clash against United States International University (USIU).

In the women’s league, Amira Sailors might seal the third spot if they attain wins in their two remaining fixtures against Strathmore University and Lakers on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Already, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) have been relegated to the second-tier league.

Butali successfully defended their title having hauled a total of 45 points in 14 wins and three draws while Blazers sealed their 22nd title after 12 wins and two draws.

The Super League and the National League will however come to an end on December 21.
