Bubbling Sakwa attributes Kayole Starlets win to good preparations

Kayole Starlets head coach Joshua Sakwa says good preparations inspired their win last Sunday as the Kenyan Women Premier League made a return.

Kayole were in riotous form thrashing Mathare United women 4-0 at the Stima Members Club, Christine Ngoisi and Foscah Nashivanda scoring a goal each to add onto a Lesley Were brace to seal the win.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Coach Sakwa hailed his players for a job ‘well done’ noting that he made a solid recruitment which is already bearing fruits.

“I can say I had enough time for preparations. While other teams were relaxing during the Covid-19 lockdown, I was busy conducting some online training sessions with the team.

They really made me proud on Sunday. Foscah is our newly signed player from Zetech and see what she did, giving me a goal is all what I needed, another exemplary performance was from Josphine Nana whom we signed from Mathare and she really impressed. That’s just an example but from more than ten players I have signed this season they have really clicked well and gelled with others.”

She continued: “For many seasons we used to play without a sponsor but this season at least we have brought on board Rolling Cargo, a Freight and Logistics company based in Nairobi whom in our first match catered for every expense – from transport – to meals. I believe this is the start of our collaboration for the betterments of the team.

It’s my hope that we will continue having new other sponsors whom we are appealing to come on board,” added Sakwa.

Sakwa is also positive of winning their next fixture when they face Ulinzi Starlets who were beaten 2-1 by Thika Queens, last weekend.

“Despite them losing on Sunday, we can’t underrate Ulinzi, we have seen what they have done in Division One -finishing unbeaten. So we will train hard and compose ourselves and I believe at the end of the match we shall grab the three crucial points to remain at the summit of the league. Our aim is to clinch the title this season, that’s what we are after.”

In another Zone A match, Makolanders pulled a 1-1 draw against Kibera Girls Soccer Academy at the Camp Toyoyo grounds while the matches pitting Gaspo and Zetech as well as Oserian Ladies and Nakuru West Queens were postponed as the Covid-19 tests were not ready going to the match.
