Bandari boss Odhiambo blames injuries for City defeat
Long layoffs and lack of match fitness are the reasons behind a slow start and lack of goals in my squad, Bandari FC coach Ken Odhiambo has said.
Speaking after losing their first match of the season, away to Nairobi City Stars, Odhiambo is however optimistic that his boys will soon get into the rhythm terming the loss as a turning point.
“We lacked tough friendlies and also match fitness, that is why we are still dragging behind but I am sure we will soon get where we are supposed to be,” said Odhiambo.
At the same time Odhiambo who is Harambee Stars assistant coach lamented how his players conceded the second goal. City players harangued the centre referee after a Yema Mwana goal was rule out and City Stars played quick counter attack in the ensuing drama which culminated with Bandari skipper Bernard Odhiambo turning the ball into his own net.
“That is not how you confront a referee to appeal for an incident with all players together,” lamented Odhiambo.
On his part City Stars coach Sanjin Alagic who has now collected six points from three matches has called for consistency from his charges which he says will help them maintain their good start to the league.
Simba wa Nairobi as they re fondly known defeated Nzoia Sugar in their first match before losing to KCB in the second match, and the Serbian is satisfied with the outcome though he is calling for more dedication from his players.
“We won but we did not play our level best,” he said. “We will build on this win going forward for a better finish position at the end of the season”.
Bandari, after collecting one point from two away matches in Nairobi, will now welcome on-form KCB FC at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa, on Friday, this week, in a round four match.
