Action resumes on WPL this weekend amidst financial crunch

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced that Women Premier League will recommence this weekend after a mid-season break which allowed players to replenish for the remainder of the campaign.

The league resumes despite the financials hiccups that has dogged the campaign with the clubs having grievances with the national governing body, as  grants from the FIFA has delayed affecting their operations.

This situation has diluted the quality of the league with several club handing walkovers due to failure to honour matches, brought about by lack of funds to facilitate their travel.

On Saturday, four matches are lined up and a similar number on Sunday. TransNzoia Falcons will be action when they host Kisumu All Starlets on Saturday in Trans-Nzoia while Nyuki Starlets collide with Zetech Sparks at Bukhungu Stadium, also on Saturday.

Gaspo youths are leading the league table with 36 points having played 12 matches ahead of second placed Trans Nzoia falcons who have 30 points with one game in hand.

Mathare United women, Spedag and Makolanders are all in the relegation battle with both of them having won only one match in the campaign.
