Woman arraigned for allegedly threatening to kill Wajir politician

A woman was on Monday arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts for allegedly threatening to kill a politician from Wajir County.

Appearing before before Chief Magistrate Eston Nyaga, the suspect; Maleey Batool Asif Hassan Sheikh, was charged with two counts of threatening to kill but she denied the charges.

The court heard that the accused, on January 24, 2019 at Nairobi Hospital in Kilimani Division, she told politician Hussein Mohammed “I will Kill You” after taking his pictures using her mobile phone.

In the second count, Batool was charged on January 25, 2019 at Eastleigh in Ushirika Estate, Starehe Division, she threatened to kill Hussein by uttering the words; “mission accomplished… I will kill you.”

The accused, who was representing herself in court, pleaded for lenient bail terms, arguing that she is a single mother and jobless.

“I request the court to grant me reasonable cash bail because I have a young family who depends on me,” said Batool.

The prosecution objected her plea on the grounds that she is suspected to have been sent by Jamal Mohammed who is facing charges of assaulting the Wajir politician.

The court released her on a cash bail of Ksh.30,000.
