Garissa County youth present views on BBI to Governor Korane

The youth in Garissa County have presented their proposals on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report to Governor Ali Korane.

Led by MCA Hussein Mohamed Dagane, the youth met Governor Korane on Sunday and presented a report on the BBI for him to forward to the taskforce on their behalf.

Among the proposals by the Garissa youth is that the Youth Affirmative Action Funds and Uwezo Funds be collapsed into one fund and be fully devolved to enhance access at the grassroots level and easier management.

They also want the criteria of awards be as transparent and accountable as possible with modalities of follow ups to enforce on-going advisory.

After consultations with various stakeholders, the steering committee is expected to come up with proposals that ought to be made to pave the way for implementation of the BBI report.

The committe shall submit its comprehensive advice to the Government by June 30, 2020 or such a date as the President may, by notice in the Gazette, prescribe.

The team shall shall solicit, receive and consider written memoranda or information from the public; and may carry out or cause to be carried out such assessments, studies or research as may inform its mandate.
