Welcome home: Kibra MP Ken Okoth is back

Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has returned to the country after an extended medical trip abroad.

The MP made a public appearance in Nairobi on Sunday as he graced the annual Kibra Music Festival alongside Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.

“Joined my brother Ken Okoth and the people of Kibra for an exciting Music Festival earlier today. Welcome back home bro and thanks for the amazing job you and your team have been doing. Your strength and your determination inspires us all,” said Sakaja in a caption accompanying photos of the event.

The festival attracts learners from Early Childhood Development (E.C.D), Primary and Secondary schools and the winners in different categories are awarded goodies including cash prize, trophies and certificates.

Mr. Okoth, who is battling colorectal cancer, has been away for over five months undergoing treatment in Europe.

While he was away, the 41-year-old legislator did not shy away from updating members of the public on his medical condition and has also continued to take part in his constituency’s development matters.

Last week, he paid a courtesy call to Kenya’s Ambassador to France Judi Wakhungu drawing a lot of reactions from Kenyans online.

“He updated us on many issues including his impressive education projects & his plans for increasing them to reach many students. He is also keen to use Sports Diplomacy to expand his students’ horizons,” the envoy said on Twitter.
