Uhuru to Kenyan men: Take time during this pandemic to know your wife better

President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Kenyan men to take their time during the new coronavirus pandemic to stay home and get to know their wives better.

A majority of Kenyans have been confined to their homes after the government issued a stay home order for non-essential workers.

Speaking at State House on Friday during the Labour Day celebrations, President Uhuru asked Kenyans to take time to forge better relations with their families.

“Tukae nyumbani najuwa ni ngumu sio rahisi, lakini hii ni nafasi tena ya kujuana na Mabibi zetu na watoto wetu tukiwa manyumbani,” President Uhuru said.

At the same time, President Uhuru asked Kenyans to look at the positive side of things despite the far-reaching effects of the global pandemic.

“Let us not always look at the negatives, kuna opportunities ya kujuana sasa tena na ni mema mengi yanaweza kutokana kutokana na kujuwana zaidi.”

During the same address, he lauded the essential workers who were working round the clock to battle the virus.

He also castigated a section of social media users who had criticized Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) flowers gift to UK’s health workers.

In no uncertain terms, President Uhuru asked Tweeps to think before they post ‘nonsense on that social media of yours’ .

He noted that the move by KEPSA to send flowers made business sense in that it cushioned flower farmers from watching their delicate products wither and die after airlines suspended operations to stem the spread of Covid-19.

President Kenyatta explained that the decision was likely to be in the favour of the vibrant Kenyan flower market once the pandemic is over.
