Two women suspected of drugging, stealing from man in Mwea arrested

Two women accused of drugging a man and robbing him of an unknown amount of money in Mwea, Kirinyaga County have been arrested.

Mwea-East police commander Daniel Kitavi said the two women drugged and robbed a 32-year-old man at a local bar in Ngurubani town on Saturday evening.

“They even took his ATM and visited two banks before they were arrested,” Kitavi said.

Kitavi said the two suspects used a motorcycle rider to take the man to a local lodging where they robbed him.

Police were later called to the scene by a good samaritan.

According to the police boss, at first, the watchman guarding the lodging refused to open the main gate until the officers introduced themselves.

“We discovered several items that will help us prosecute the two suspects who are being held here at Wang’uru police station,” Kitavi said.

Kitavi said his police officers took the victim to a local private hospital.

“Right now he’s feeling well and he has recorded statements with us,” the police boss said.

The man who was robbed requested that his identity not be disclosed for security reasons.

It is alleged that the two women have been targeting men in towns such as Ngurubani, Kerugoya, Kagio, Sagana among others

They will be arraigned at Wang’uru Law Courts on Monday.
