Three former officials of Siaya County fined Ksh.1m for irregular Ksh.14.9m tender award

Three former officials of Siaya County Government have been fined Ksh. 1m and in default, serve a 12-month jail term.

The trio was found culpable of irregularly awarding the installation of Sports Facilities tender within the county in disregard of procurement laws.

The first accused, Kepha Marura- the former County Secretary-has been charged with three counts; failure to comply with the law relating to procurement, willful failure to comply with the law relating to procurement and abuse office.

He was found guilty of count one was consequently fined Ksh.1m and in default, serve a 1-year sentence.

Zakayo Ojuok, the former District Procurement Officer and County Tender Committee Secretary was charged with two counts; failure to comply with procurement laws and forgery.

He was also found guilty of count one and fined Ksh.1m or the equivalent of one year in the slammer.

The third accused, Tobias Odongo Oloo- the former Director Supply Chain Managements was charged with three counts, among them;  failure to comply with procurement laws, abuse office and forgery.

He was found guilty on count 5- forgery- and was consequently fined Ksh.1m or in default, serve a 3-year prison sentence.
