Three dead after matatu rolls on Kakamega-Kisumu highway

Three people have been confirmed dead after a matatu travelling to Kiboswa veered off the road and rolled near Coptic Church on the Kakamega-Kisumu highway.

Kisumu OCPD Meshack Kiptum confirmed the incident saying scores of other passengers were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to Kiptum, the three passengers who died were two male adults and a woman.

He added that the accident was likely caused by brake failure which caused the matatu to lose control.

The police boss further labelled the accident scene a black spot, cautioning motorists to avoid speeding when approaching the area.
