Six people killed in Baringo bandit attack, protests

Six people have been killed in Baringo County in two separate incidences.

The first incident occurred at Ameyan Tiaty Subcounty.

Suspected Pokot bandits shot dead four civilians who were on their way to Kapedo from Marigat.

Two other people died after the vehicle they were travelling in was stoned by angry protesters.

The demonstrators were demanding justice for those who were killed in Kapedo last month.

Several others were seriously injured among them four students.

They were rushed to Marigat District Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

One of the students has been moved to Baringo Referral Hospital after sustaining serious head injuries.

Julia Kandie, a nominated county assembly member, condemned the retaliatory attacks saying it was uncalled for.

According to her, it is regrettable that the clashes took place in a different area yet Marigat residents chose to attack innocent passengers.

MCA Maria Losile (Loiyamorok Ward) appealed to locals to coexist peacefully as prolonged animosity will negatively impact economy of the region.
