By Dennis Kiarie

A middle-aged man shocked a Nairobi court on Wednesday after he headbutted a police officer while being escorted out of the courtroom.

Daniel Njonjo Mwangi was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts where he was charged with intent to commit  robbery with violence.

According to the charge sheet, Mwangi was on January 7 found in possession of a knife and rungu on Kimathi street in Nairobi.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted a cash bail of Ksh.30,000 and a bond of Ksh.50,000.

The accused, who the court also heard was mentally ill, however said he was unable to raise the cash bail.

Later on, while being escorted out of the courtroom, the accused gave a police officer a headbutt.
