State reinstates security of NASA leaders after Uhuru, Raila meeting

The government has reinstated the security detail of National Super Alliance leaders which was withdrawn following the mock presidential swearing-in ceremony held in January.

Police sources confirmed to Citizen Digital that they had been directed to also restore the bodyguards of 160 NASA Members of Parliament who were stripped of their security in the ensuing government reaction to the controversial oathing.

The move to restore the security detail of the opposition figures comes days after President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga held a meeting last week where they called for truce into their highly polarised political feuds.

The withdraw of opposition leaders’ security and arrest of some of Mr. Odinga’s lieutenants, were part of a government crackdown on organisers and facilitators of the oathing event.

However, in a joint ceasefire address to the nation on Friday last week, Kenyatta and Odinga said they were ready to walk the talk in chatting the country into a new chapter and devoid of ethnic undertones for the sake of future generations.
