Six injured in fresh inter-clan clashes in Narok

Several people are nursing serious arrow inflicted injuries in renewed border clashes at the Nkararo-Enooretet border in Transmara, Narok County.

Among those injured include one police officer who is reported to have been among those deployed at the border to separate the warring groups.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Interior Chief Administrative Secretary Patrick Ole Ntutu condemned the ongoing fighting and warned those at the fore-front of the clashes, saying they will be arrested.

“We will not tolerate government individuals who are going to cause insecurity in Nkararo…we are taking up the matter seriously and anyone found will be arrested and charged.” said Ntutu.

Tension now remains high as the two groups the Siria and Ilwuasi Ngishu clans both of the Maasai community continue to engage each other at Oldanyati.

Tens of GSU officers from Keyian division on Friday evening engaged the warring groups after they attempted to guard the piece of land that is alleged to have sparked the conflict.

Last month the government demarcated a clear border line to separate to the clans, but the move was not well received by one clan who continue to protest the boundary, igniting more fighting.

Those injured have been rushed to hospitals in Kisii and Bomet counties.

On his part, Rift Valley regional commissioner George Natembeya has warned the two clans against the clashes saying: “We will now as government bring cloroquinn to you not panadol this time round.”

Kilgoris Deputy County Commissioner Hassan Noor however moved to assure the clans that peace will be restored eventually, after the demarcation of the 4km border.
