Sina maoni: Uasin Gishu mans response to Citizen TV reporter cracks up Kenyans online
Every
election cycle in Kenya brings with it its fairs share of personalities that
emerge out of the blues into the limelight, either because of what they do or
what they say.
The
other election cycle witnessed the rise of Martin Kamotho, popularly known as the
Githeri man, who went viral merely for carrying his breakfast to the voting
queue in 2017.
The
ongoing 2022 poll has also seen the emergence of a few unconventional personalities, among them a man who showed up to
the polling station bare-chested, with a towel over his waist and a tooth brush
on his mouth.
At another polling station, a woman was caught carrying a
teddy bear, in order to give the impression that she had a baby hence should,
presumably, be allowed to skip the line.
Elsewhere still, sensational comedian Arap Marindich showed
up at a polling station with his 'rally driver' gear and a dusty face as seen
in his memes.
However, amidst all these, there is one other man who has
cracked the ribs of Kenyans online with his honesty.
The man, who is yet to be identified, made a brief appearance
on Citizen TV during the first day of the 2022 General Election.
While reporting from Uasin Gishu County at around 5am on
Tuesday, Citizen TV’s Chemutai Goin sought the opinion of area residents on
whether they felt security had been boosted to their satisfaction and if they
felt the election was going to be free and fair.
“Kuna
watu ambao walikuwa na hisia tofauti kuhusu labda usalama ikiwa umeimarishwa,
ikiwa uchaguzi huu utakuwa huru na haki, je wewe kama mpiga kura ambaye umefika
tayari kupiga kura, maoni yako ni yepi?” Posed Goin.
She
then approached one of the residents on the line who calmly responded saying: “Kulingana
na mimi, sina maoni. Sina maoni kabisa.”
The man’s shy response, which cracked up a fellow voter behind him in line, has since elicited a multitude of responses online, among them:
