Siaya women, Machakos men rank among groups seeking family planning guidance
Siaya County led with 40.7 per cent followed by Kericho at 40 per cent and Narok at 39.2 per cent. Nyandarua (39 per cent) and Trans-Nzoia (38.3 per cent) were ranked fourth and fifth counties respectively.
In contrast, Mandera had the least access to information on family planning among females at 2.3 per cent followed by Wajir (18.6 per cent), Turkana (35.4 per cent) and Lamu (46.5 per cent).
In the men's category, Machakos County led with 96.5 per cent, followed by Kericho at 93 per cent and Kirinyaga (92.1 per cent).
Mandera County reported the least proportion of males (15.5 per cent) that accessed family planning information through ICT services, followed by Wajir and Turkana counties at 18.6 and 35.4 per cent, respectively.
Generally, access to family planning information was higher among males than their female counterparts.
13 counties had more females than males accessing family planning information through mobile phones. These include Kericho, Kakamega, Uasin Gichu, Turkana, Mombasa, and Garissa.
Others include Marsabit, Isiolo, Makueni, Nyeri, Siaya, Kisumu and Kisii.
"Males and females within the age group 25-34 years reported the highest access to family planning information through television, mobile phone messaging, social media platforms and the Internet," the report read in part.
"Notably, access to family planning information by both rural and urban residents was mainly through radio, with rural population reporting higher access through radio as compared to urban population."
