Siaya takes the lead as Kenya records 82 COVID-19 cases
The Ministry of Health on Saturday announced
that 82 people tested positive for COVID-19 out of a sample size of 821
tested in the last 24 hours.
Out of these, 56 are male while 26 are
female; the youngest is 2 years while the oldest is 89 years old.
The ministry, in a statement to newsrooms,
stated that the total confirmed positive cases are now 341,886 with cumulative
tests so far conducted standing at 3,944,750.
The infections were recorded across various
counties as follows; Siaya 22, Nairobi 16, Uasin Gishu 16, Kericho 10, Nakuru
6, Kilifi 3, Nyeri 3, Migori 2, Mombasa 2, Kisumu and Kiambu had 2 cases each.
“119 patients have recovered from the
disease, all from the Home-based Care and Isolation program. This pushes the
total recoveries to 335,551 of whom 281,862 are from the HomeBased Care and
Isolation program, while 53,689 are from various health facilities across the
country,” Health Cabinet Secretary Wafula Nakhumicha noted.
“No fatalities were recorded during the
period under review so the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,684.”
CS Wafula added: “There are 25 patients
currently admitted to our health facilities, while 651 are under the Home-Based
Isolation and Care program. 1 other patient is on supplemental oxygen, and is
in the General ward.”
