Shock after 94-year-old granny raped and killed in Kangundo

A 94-year-old granny had been raped and killed by an unknown assailant at her home in Kivaani, Kangundo.

Horrified area residents say they sensed something was amiss after the elderly woman failed to show up outside as usual.

Upon checking, they realised that her house was locked from the inside. The deceased was living alone.

Upon inspection area OCPD Benjamin Ongombe said they discovered that bricks had been removed from a section of her house.

One of her grandchildren then passed through the hole and opened the window to allow the search party inside.

It is believed that the assailant removed bricks and then used the hole to gain access to her house where the heineous crime was committed.

Police in the area are investigating the matter although no one has been arrested so far.

The body of the deceased had been taken to the Kangundo Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
