Autopsy for university student Sharon Otieno underway

The post-mortem examination for Sharon Otieno, the student from Migori who was abducted alongside Nation journalist Barack Oduor, will be conducted at 2pm on Friday.

Lawyer Cliff Ombeta and a private pathologist are present to represent the interests of Migori Governor Okoth Obado.

Sharon’s family had also requested for a private pathologist to be availed to them.

The Governor has however denied claims linking him to the abduction and death of Sharon Otieno.

Sharon’s mother Melinda Otieno broke down when she arrived at the Rachuonyo Level Four Hospital in Oyugis where the autopsy will be done.

Her daughter is said to have been seven months pregnant when she died.

The death of the Rongo University student has been condemned from several quarters with the Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe and Opposition leader Raila Odinga calling for a speedy probe.

Kiraithe further termed the abduction of the Nation journalist as an attempted murder.

Oduor was abducted together with Sharon on Monday evening but he managed to escape by jumping out of the moving vehicle.

Sharon was reported missing and her body discovered two days later near Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County, two hours away from where she had been seen last.
