Seven people arrested in Migori for not wearing masks

Seven people were arrested on Sunday evening for not wearing masks during a crackdown conducted by police in Isebania, Migori County.

Kuria West Sub-county Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the suspects Chacha Gabriel aged 36, Henry Mene (26), Peter Kamau (26), Collins Kone (38), Esther Abel (21) and Mary Kerubo (29) are set to be arraigned on Monday to face charges of contravening COVID-19 regulations.

The sub-county police commander warned those not adhering to the rules, noting that the crackdown on people disregarding COVID-19 rules will continue.

Meanwhile, two people are detained at Kehancha police station waiting to be arraigned after they were found in possession of illicit brew.

Sarah Robi aged 60 years and 40-year-old Moseti Tabuya were arrested with six litres and 30 litres of chang’aa respectively in a crackdown conducted by police in Kehancha and Mabera.

Kuria West police commander Mr.Kimaiyo said the crackdown is still on, insisting that those involved in brewing and trafficking illicit brew will be arrested and charged.
